Threads of Ancestry. A Colombia Retreat

Journey into the subtle languages of spirit through the exploration of ritual, embodiment and ancient wisdom. Expect a continuous ceremony into the deeper memory of spirit, curated through intuitive moving meditations, dreamlike soundscapes and sacred rituals. Escape to beautiful Columbia and explore the local indigenous worldview and wisdom of one of the most sacred territories in Latin America, the Sierra Nevada, known as "the heart of the world.

VENUE

Our retreat will take place in one of the most mystical and sacred territories in South America, also referred to as “the heart of the world” by the local indigenous communities that live here. You will find yourself transported to a mesmerizing place, immersed in dense, pristine nature, surrounded by the majestic mountain range of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. In 1979, UNESCO declared the region a Biosphere Reserve of Man and Humanity and a World Heritage Site. In November 2022, UNESCO recognised the Ancestral Knowledge System of the four indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada as an Intangible Cultural Patrimony of Humanity

One Santaurio is a magical boutique hotel cocooned in a natural reserve of over 150 hectares, serving as both sanctuary and guardian on the border of the sacred Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Within the reserve, we are privileged to have a glacier river with pristine waters flowing down from the Sierra, surrounded by a tropical jungle teeming with unique and marvelous bird species.

JOURNEY

This is a journey of prayer, ritual, movement and community guided by Juliana, Collette, the land and guest facilitators.

  • Ancient Languages of Spirit: explore practices of ritual, embodied movement, chanting, meditation and other portals that call us into relationship with our profound spiritual dimensions.

  • Embodied Ceremony: a continuous ceremony weaved by our own unique expression, as we celebrate the gift of remembering our true divine nature.

  • Tapestry of wisdom: awaken the threads of wisdom that live within and remember that when they are shared with the world we are helping create the most beautiful tapestry in service of life.

Main Philosophies and Disciplines:

  • Non Dual Shaiva Tantra: the non-dual view of Classical Tantric philosophy is that the One expresses as the many. It sees God in all things where all of life is pulsing with Divine power. Tantra asks us to become intimate with reality. It is a householder tradition, which means it is for spiritual practitioners who want to be in the world. It teaches us to move towards our pain and our pleasure, our suffering and our freedom. To be open to the whole spectrum of our experience and, through practice and ritual, we build a strong energy body to hold more of life.

  • Embodiment and Somatics: we tend to move through the world from our heads, often disembodied and out of touch with the somatic wisdom of the body. Somatics and embodiment recognise that Psyche lives in Soma and by becoming fluent in the language of the body we can access deep layers of unconscious programming and heavy conditioning to release old ways of living, being and moving. From this view, the brain is the last to know and it is the cells that hold the key to our liberation.

  • Sacred Space and Ceremony: we will carefully curate ceremonies and rituals drawn from ancient traditions that will serve as gateways for personal introspection, healing, and connection with the divine.

  • Local Indigenous Wisdom:  We will have the privilege of learning about the local indigenous worldview through workshops and ceremonies led by indigenous leaders who will join us during the retreat. Additionally, we will enjoy a unique opportunity to visit a Kogi community. There, we will engage in weaving activities with the women, allowing us to explore the profound symbolism of threads and weaving according to their cosmovision.
